Case Study - Separation

Mr R sought our assistance following the break down of his 10 year marriage. He and his wife had parted amicably and they had agreed that they would divorce in 2 years' time. They had also agreed how the family assets would be divided.

We were able to advise him about the importance of entering into a Deed of Separation. The agreement was incorporated into a Deed of Separation, the assets were divided and the parties had peace of mind knowing that the other could not renege upon the agreement and that the Court could only overturn the agreement if there was a significant change of circumstances between separation and divorce.
