Case Study - Animal Bite
We acted for a Pensioner who was waiting at a bus stop outside her home when an Alsatian dog came running out of a neighbour’s house, bounded up to her and bit a large chunk out of her thigh.
The wound that it caused was very serious. The dog owner was prosecuted under the Dangerous Dogs Act but remarkably the magistrates did not order the dog to be destroyed because the owner convinced them it was a one off accident.
In fact when we investigated the matter we discovered that the dog had “previous”. The owner had even paid off other victims! We were able to secure a significant sum of compensation for our Client because we could prove that the owner knew the dog was a risk to the public.
