Changes to Terms and Conditions of Employment
Changes in the economy or a need to reorganise a business may lead your employer to change your hours of work, rate of pay or other terms and conditions of employment.
Your contract of employment may contain express terms which allow your employer to make these changes but if not your employer cannot vary your contract without your agreement.
If your employer imposes changes to your contractual terms without your agreement it will have breached the contract. If the change is significant it may entitle you to resign and bring a claim for compensation against your employer at an employment tribunal for constructive dismissal.
This is a complex area of law and its important that you take expert advice before deciding on any course of action.
