Equal Pay
The Equal Pay legislation outlaws discrimination between men and women in terms of their pay and contracts of employment. It protects both men and women.
You are entitled to claim equal pay and contractual terms with work colleagues of the opposite sex where you each do work that is the same or broadly similar, or where your work is considered to be equivalent, or where your work is of equal value in terms of the demands of the jobs.
This is a complex area of law and if you are being paid unequally or employed on less favourable terms than a colleague of the opposite sex you will need expert advice in order to take your case to an employment tribunal.
If your claim is successful you will be entitled to compensation - which could include up to six years back pay - and your employment contract will be amended to ensure that in future you enjoy the same pay and conditions as your work colleagues
As you are only entitled to recover back pay up to a maximum of six years the longer you wait to claim the more you lose. Call one of our expert advisers now.
