Race Discrimination
It is unlawful for your employer to discriminate against you on the grounds of your race, colour, nationality or ethnic or national origin (‘Race’).
Discrimination may take any of the following forms:
Direct discrimination - where your employer treats you less favourably on grounds of Race.
Indirect discrimination - where your employer implements a rule or procedure that affects you adversely because of your Race.
Victimisation - where your employer treats you unfairly because you have made or assisted in making a complaint about discrimination.
Harassment- where your employer behaves in such a manner (or allows others to do so) so as to violates your dignity or to create an intimidating, hostile, degrading, humiliating or offensive workplace.
Your employer may be liable for the discriminatory acts of its employees even if they were done without the employer's knowledge
The race discrimination legislation applies to both employees and job applicants
