The Law Commission is launching a consultation today as part of its review of the law relating to financial provision on divorce.
In particular they’ll be looking to what extent one spouse should be required to meet the other’s financial needs, at what exactly is meant by needs and at what happens to property that one of the partners owned before the relationship or acquired during the course of it.
The consultation closes on the 12th December.
